I-WSN is an SME Instrument business innovation grant for a feasibility study of a low-cost and large-scale solution for automated Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance.

The solution is based on intelligent Wireless Sensor Networks that monitor the long-term tred in the status of the equipment and can predict damages at an early stage.

The focus market segments for direct application of I-WSN are offshore Oil&Gas and Wind Energy.

The final goal of I-WSN is to bring massive cost savings by:

• Extension of maintenance intervals
• Better planning of maintenance
• Improved safety

In phase I of the SME instrument, the objective is to determine the economic, technical and operational feasibility of I-WSN in the offshore industry.
