iTrack passes fire tests! The iTrack localization system was tested with firefighters in July 2025 at Twente Safety Campus (TSC) in the Netherlands and in November 2025 at PAULO fire school, Brandweer Zone Centrum (BWZC) in Ghent, Belgium. The purpose of the experiments was to test iTrack in extreme conditions, such as smoke, onset and extinguishing of fire, vapor and water. Additionally, the particular way of walking of firefighters entering a fire and smoke zone and its influence on the positioning accuracy was also measured. Finally, we tested the integration with the FrontForce emergency app and gathered end-user feedback for feasibility and practical use. We deeply thank our partners from TSC, BWSZ and PAULO fire school for their responsiveness, enthusiasm and supportive collaboration!
