On June 17th 2019, the final event of the INNOWAG H2020 project took place in Munich. Inertia Technology presented the final results of the Bluetooth-based prototype for cargo monitoring. This was a notable achievement, as it shows the feasibility of continuous monitoring of goods from inside a container or tank wagon. The wireless sensor from inside the wagon transmits its data to a gateway device harvesting energy, positioned outside, on top of the container. The gateway periodically reports the data to the cloud. The prototype ran this spring for more than one week in operational environment.

On June 18th 2019, Shift2Rail freight projects presented their achievements during a conference in Munich. Participants had the opportunity to network and learn about the latest results of Shift2Rail R&I activities in freight rail. Innovations cover a wide spectrum of areas, ranging from condition monitoring and predictive maintenance, new locomotive designs, longer and heavier trains, real time management of main lines and yards, intelligent freight wagon concepts, and automation and digitization of terminals.
